Merry Christmas (pups 2014) layout

Here is another layout inspired by Stuck Sketches - December 1st sketch.  I loved both of the sketches provided this month by Stuck Sketches!

Here is the sketch:

Here is my layout of the pups, Otto and Bentley, with their treats on Christmas morning - yep these guys are going to be even more spoiled than the last dogs that blessed this home!  I wasn't able to get a good scan of this layout because it's so bumpy so I took a photo of it so it's not the best.

Snow Pup layout

Today I am sharing a layout that was inspired by Stuck Sketches December 15th sketch.  If you are in need of some inspiration to get ya started check out their sketches!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout of one of our pups, Bentley, playing in the snow (I added the date to the layout after I scanned it … can't believe I forgot the date! LOL!)  I had a lot of fun digging through my winter stash to create this layout!  I wish I could have gotten a better scan of the layout since it looks so much better in person!

Menu Plan Monday

Here are the meals we have planned for this week in no particular order:

Chuck Roast in Crock Pot - we had this Sunday evening & it had awesome flavor!  I paired it with mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and carrots and fresh baked rolls.

Buffalo Chicken in Crock Pot

Crock Pot Swedish Meatballs

Two Ingredient Crock Pot Beef - I did make this a few weeks ago, however, one of the pieces of the packaging stuck to the bottom of the roast when I put it in the crock pot, so we didn't eat it… trying it again :)

And a few back up recipes are:

Spaghetti with meat sauce
Meatloaf
Italian Chicken Roll-ups

Menu Plan Monday (or Sunday!)

I am trying to be better about being prepared and planning our dinners, so this is what is on tap for this week:

Tuesday: BLTA's

Thursday: Angel Hair Pasta with meat sauce

Friday: Left overs

Saturday: Open since we will be out and about running errands & going to Seth's play-off football game.

I am trying to utilize the recipes that I have pinned on my "food and drink I want to try" board to mix things up since we tend to get into a rut with easy recipes.

I also love love love using my crock pot so dinner is ready when I get home, so if you have any great crock pot recipes, please share!

Birds of a Feather October Kit

It's no secret that I love all things Halloween - so I was thrilled to see the October Birds of a Feather kit to arrive!!

This layout is about a historic house in Denver that has had haunting claims since it was built in 1890.  Here is a link for some background info on the Croke-Patterson Mansion if you are interested.  Rick and I had a chance to visit the vacant mansion one evening in Oct 2010.

This layout is of my son during Halloween last year, I always like to take photos of him at the end of the night with all of his treats! He always gets so much candy!!

On this layout I really wanted to use the big Halloween sticker that comes in the October kit, so I picked some simple photos of my son posing in his morphsuit on Halloween 2011.  Since my son and two of his pals dressed up in morphsuit we did a whole photo shoot at our town center!!  I love the impact of the large sticker!

This next layout is from last Halloween, one of our friends brought a giant pumpkin to the friends house where we gathered for Halloween - so the guys decided to carve it!

This layout is of a photo I took as we arrived at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO in Oct. 2012.  During fall break we stayed at the Stanley Hotel - in the haunted room 217 (from The Shining), we did the history tour and the nighttime ghost tour along with touring the grounds on our own both during the day and at night.  I knew I had to use some of our trip photos since this kit has both paper and stickers that reference the Stanley Hotel.

Birds of a Feather September Kit

I had a lot of fun playing with the September kit from Birds of a Feather Kit Club.  You can check it out here!

First up is a simple card - I really love this color combo!!

One of my favorite things about the glitter paste that comes with the September kit is not only that it adds the lovely sparkly glitter without needing additional adhesive but that it also is a bonding agent for the embellishments that I am using the glitter paste on.  Love items that can do double duty! :)

This layout is a "Happy Memory"  these photos are from the adventure park Selvatica in Cancun.  We had an amazing time!  I used the glitter paste from the kit to make a border edge on the upper right side, however, I was distracted and left my stencil on too long and the paste dried (oops :) ) So I filled in some of the parts where the paper tore with more glitter paste and finished my layout.

This layout is a photo of our dog, Oswald, on a walk with me the other night - he loved being out in all of the new sites and smells :)  It's had to tell in the scan, but I used the glitter paste on the wood piece - I painted some on both sides of the wood piece so it would act as an adhesive on the bottom side.

This layout is a photo of my son being goofy by wearing three hats - the gold phrase "stay gold" was perfect here for him to always keep his innocence.   I trimmed the layout in gold and used the gold glitter paste on a wood piece to continue the hints of gold.

Creative Side - Blog Hop

Whew - it's been a while since I have posted here but I have been busy with Seth's sports, work and scrapping. :)

I was invited by Leslie to join in a blog hop that digs a little into my creative side.  You can see Leslie's post here.

1. What am I working on right now?
During the past few weeks I have been digging out all of my supplies to sort and reorganize them.  I am loving seeing things I had forgotten about and now are in a place that I can find them.  I am also very close to completing a 50 project challenge that I started on Feb. 8, 2014 - in fact I am one project away!!  I only count 12x12 layouts.

You can see my #48 layout featured on the Birds of a Feather Kit Club's blog today:  HERE

#49 won't reveal until Tuesday, August 19th on the same blog but here is a sneak at it:

2. How long does it take to create a project?
I have always been a pretty fast scrapper but lately I would like to take some more time to do some more techniques on my layouts.

3. What are my fave things I love to create with at the moment.
Stencils with distress ink on white cardstock - love the look!

Here are two of my layouts featuring this technique:

4. How does your writing/creating process work?
Usually it's driven by design team work so I find photos that work with the products or challenges.

5. What inspires you?
My photos and other great layouts online.

My next step is to invite a few more bloggers to share a bit about themselves next week:

Jolene

Celeste
