My Core’dinations Creative Frenzy

For a long time now I have been collecting and hoarding Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock ... when the new pads of embossed Core’dinations were released & I found myself once again buying them I promised myself that I would actually start using my Core’dinations stash ... well now I cannot stop! I am addicted to Core’dinations!

It's no secret that I have loved to use distressing on my layouts for many years now so I love sanding away to enhance the embossed patterns! I also love the little bit of somethin' somethin' that the embossed pattern gives to otherwise white space on my layout - just love it!

So I have decided to throw my hat into the ring of Design Team hopefuls for Core’dination's Design Team Call.

Here are a few of my layouts created with my new addiction ... um I mean Core’dinations. :)

First up: Bright Future Ahead

My son at his 2007 Kindergarten Graduation. I love these photos - I love that they capture his personality and I love the last photo with him laughing when he finally made eye contact with me in the audience. The Core’dinations alpha paper is the perfect background for this layout! The rest of the layout is created with Karen Foster Design's new Graduation theme product that was just released April 1st!

Secondly: Bear Country USA, June 2009

I was excited to scrap these photos because they were neutral and I could use any products with them - the first product that came to my mind was the Core woodgrain pattern - I love how the woodgrain mixes perfectly with the other Core patterns and colors!

Next up: These are the days to remember

The bright blues in this photo just scream summertime so when I placed this photo against the yellow Core’dinations it just popped! Mixed in with some other fun patterns from October Afternoon and Karen Foster Design, this layout came together so easily! The final touch was the addition of Stickles to the waves, bubbles and sun.

Last but not least is: Game Day

Photos of my son playing baseball are some of my favorite photos to scrap. I snuck into the dug out just before the game started to grab some random shots of the boys, it's great that they flock together to be in the photos! The subtle pattern of the Core’dinations really worked nicely with the red in the Scrappin' Sports & More baseball paper and other embellishments.

Well, there it is ... my hat in the ring with the rest of the hopefuls. Thanks to the staff over at Core’dinations for taking the time to stop by my blog and of course for creating such an addicting product! Good luck to everyone else who submits! :)

New Sketch

Here is this week's sketch over at Let's Capture These Sketches! You can play along and add your creation to the LCTS's blog post! Have Fun!

This is a perfect example of taking a sketch & making it work for you - I didn't have any circle shaped paper so I used a different shaped paper from WRMK Show & Tell line and I used two photos instead of one. I love how it turned out!

Have a great day & thanks for stoppin' by!

Here is a bit about me:

My name is Carolyn Lontin. I am married to Rick; we have one son,
Seth and two crazy dogs! We live in gorgeous Colorado, in a suburb
just south of Denver.

I began scrapping in October 2001 to preserve my son's childhood
memories and it quickly became an obsession! I love capturing my
family's "real" moments in both my photos and in my journaling
on my layouts. I have found the creative outlet of scrapping to be
incredibly relaxing and quite addictive, which is shocking to the previously
dominate non-artistic side of me! Over the past few years,
I have had the honor of having my work published in major publications.

Since 1994, I have been a Human Resource Director for a
manufacturing company. I also enjoy spending time with family
and friends, photography, exercising, cheering on my son's many
sports teams, mini-adventures exploring in the mountains, playing with
our dogs, and reading. I am super excited to be a part of
Let’s Capture These Sketches Design Team !

Here is our fantastic sketch & my layout using
Karen Foster's new Easter line:

Fishing!

Yesterday, this fishing layout was on the Scrappin' Sports & More blog ... I love this layout!

Last summer my son went fishing with his pal & his pal's dad ... my son LOVED fishing and being outside in the reservoir at the base of Pikes Peak, however my son did not care to actually eat the fish they caught!

This photo was perfect for SSM's new The Sport is ... Fishing paper! I combined it with Sports Head On Fishing paper and On the Edge Sports - Fishing paper, these papers went together so easy!

Scrappin' Sports & More supplies used:
Sports Head On - Racing paper #1329
Sports Head On - Fishing paper #1323
On the Edge Sports - Fishing paper #1309
The Sport is - Fishing paper #1342

Happy Valentine's Day!

and Happy Birthday to my mom! :)

On a scrappy note ...here is a pocket page using Karen Foster Vintage Valentine line, scrappers spool & coil brads. I cut on the patterend paper and popped it up with glue dots to tuck in my son's Valentine cards from last year. (I make a pocket page each year to save his school Valentine's)
